In addition many of our athletes also compete for Caledonia and Scotland.

Caledonia

The ladies and mens Caledonia teams compete in the British League whilst the junior teams compete at the ASA National Age Groups. Additional training on a Thursday for seniors (no regular training for juniors).  We currently have 4 ladies and 6 men in Caledonia Teams playing in the BWPL (plus Colin Scott playing for Portobello) plus 4 junior boys for Caley in the ASA Nags.

Scotland

The senior teams (ladies and men) generally compete at the EU Nations and the North Sea Cup – training is ad hoc.

Junior teams (boys and girls) are structured into squads – Boys squad has over 34 training sessions per year; Girls have approx. 15. Only squad members are selected for the various teams. Currently 4 girls and 8 boys are in the Scotland squad of these 2 girls and 5 boys have represented Scotland.

GB

Currently Hannah Edwards is in the GB U19 squad and has competed for U19 GB team and Nick Parsons invited to attend 02 trials (pre-requisite for U17 squad in 2 years time).

In addition we have a number of volunteers who as well as helping in the running of water polo at Menzieshill have significant roles outwith the club.

Ben and Sam are assistant national coaches to the Scotland Boys Squad, both have completed their Team Managers Course (Level 1 and 2) and are in the process of completing their UKCC Level 2 Coaching Water Polo course.  In addition Ben was the lead coach for the U16 Scotland Boys Team at the BWMF Cup Lloret de Mar, Spain. With regular training sessions, training camps and tournaments they both contribute over 100 hours to the national team (in addition to their club commitments). In addition Sam has also refereed some high level games at both the Scottish Cup and the ASA Nags. Others who have made significant contributions to water polo are Murray McLeod (delegate) Susan Mathewson (Table official) and Andrea Baker (team manager).
