Medals: 2 Gold; 5 Silver; 2 Bronze

We had a good solid first day at the Midlands February Championships followed up by more medals on the second day.

On Saturday we had a total of 27 swims which resulted in 21 pbs and 12 finalists. Amy Robertson had a great day with 2 gold medals (100m Back and Butterfly), a silver (100m free) and a bronze medal (100m Breaststroke). In addition Amy was also awarded the Etta Coupar Memorial Trophy for Junior Ladies Backstroke Champion and the George Baird Rose Bowl for Ladies Junior Butterfly Champion which incidentally our coach Debbie Henderson also won this cup twice in the eighties as did another Menzieshill swimmer Angela McGoldrick!

Sunday was a mixture of 200 IM and 50m free swims and 4x50m relays. We had 16 individual swims, 11 pbs and 9 finalists. To finish off a great meet Amy R got a further 2 silver medals (200m IM and 50m Free) and Rebecca D also got a bronze medal for 50m free. In addition our 10-14 girls relay team came home 4th for both Medlay and Free whilst our 10-16 girls (Amy R, Ailsa Y, Hannah E, Rebecca D) got silver medals in both the Medlay and Free relays – beaten only by the girls from Perth City.

Well done to all our swimmers who represented the club so well – Ailsa Young, Alice Parsons, Amy Robertson, Amy Scott, Brandon Buchan, Chloe Strachan, Craig McDonald, Finlay Robertson, Hannah Edwards, Jake Muir, Jamie Bell, Kirsty Bell, Rachel Renton and Rebecca Duff. Thanks also to the coaches, technical officials and helpers who made this whole event possible.
